Chief Game Designer, as well as the company founder and board game consultant, with over 15 years of experience in board games, is familiar with renowned tabletop games from both ancient and modern times. He has witnessed the development of tabletop games in Hong Kong and is dedicated to promoting the importance of board game education.

Professional Game Designers and Testing Team

Our team of tabletop game designers, with years of design experience, creates unique game mechanics and gameplay for each game, incorporating interesting themes and backgrounds. After completing the initial game design, we hand it over to our experienced testing team for a series of game evaluations. They conduct rigorous balance adjustments and optimizations, resulting in a perfect original work.

All-in-one game production and marketing

Once we have perfected all components, we will provide the complete details to the production company for manufacturing into finished products. Before official printing, we will conduct strict quality assessments to ensure perfect production.

We have our own retail outlets in Kwun Tong, and Causeway Bay, and we also occasionally promote and sell at Toy'r'Us and Eslite bookstores to make our released works more accessible to different players.

Unique Style Illustrator

To present a more authentic work, we collaborate with illustrators who match the corresponding style of the game's story background. Our goal is to make the characters and objects in the game come to life, allowing players to feel as if they are immersed in the game world and personally crafting one game script after another.

Board Game Education Series

In addition to their original board games, they have developed a series of educational board games, such as the "Pinocchio Series," which focuses on enhancing language skills, and "Scribble Time," which trains expression and communication skills, as well as "Incoherent," which emphasizes clever guessing and interaction.

To more effectively promote the benefits of educational board games, Edward has collaborated with Swan Panasia, Gokids, Kanga International, and HABA to distribute various foreign board games that hold significance in the Hong Kong education market in traditional Chinese versions.

Game Design Concept from 0 to 100

 

Before designing a new game, we regularly communicate and gather data to conceptualize a brand-new feature that is suitable for the current market situation. After extensive discussions and selection among the team, we reach a consensus and proceed to the conceptualization phase. During the conceptualization phase, team members individually brainstorm ideas focused on how to present the game’s features. We consider which game mechanics to incorporate, what type of game it should be, the method of gameplay, and which accessories to include. These aspects are crucial and are given careful consideration.

Adhere to original and unique game mechanics

Once the presentation method is determined, we officially proceed with game design. In this phase, we need to focus on the details of game mechanics and gameplay, delving into and researching the game rules, game flow, and documenting foreseeable issues as well as speculating on potential problems, addressing each one individually.

While adjusting various aspects, we must remain vigilant about whether we have compromised the original intent and essence of the game to cater to demands. This is because maintaining original gameplay and a unique style is our steadfast principle, and we aim to eliminate the possibility of "copying other games."

Emphasizing balance and game testing

Once the prototype of the game is produced, we can move on to game testing.

We will hand over the prototype to the game testing specialists for a series of playtests, which will include assessing whether the gameplay is reasonable, whether the mechanics, style, and theme are compatible, the adequacy of the game components, and suggestions for adjustments (debugging).

This process will be repeated continuously until perfection is achieved. During the revisions, we will also make good use of time and resources to expand the testing group to include other general players to ensure the game has a higher degree of market compatibility, thereby further improving the quality of the work.

Game Promotion and International Perspective

Once the work is officially completed, we will dedicate ourselves to organizing various promotional activities, such as game playtesting events and media promotions, to showcase the product to the public at exhibitions.

However, Capstone's vision extends beyond just the local market. We are focusing our resources on expanding our reach to the tabletop game market in Asia and even around the world.

We aim to demonstrate to the world that tabletop game design in Hong Kong is becoming increasingly mature and is no less competitive than that of other countries.

Inheriting Board Game Design Techniques

To foster the development of board game design in Hong Kong, our design team has decided to share our expertise with the public by establishing a "Board Game Design Discipline" under the "HKBGEA Hong Kong Board Game Education Academy." We will offer a variety of board game design courses tailored for different audiences. Through these courses, we will teach design theories and provide experiences with various board game features. This process aims to inspire potential board game design ideas and expand upon them. We hope to discover the next generation of board game designers and enable the board games designed by Hong Kong people to hold a place on the international stage through various training and practice sessions.
